# Generator Financing in DFW | Monthly Payments with Affirm
**URL:** https://utselectricpros.com/financing
**Summary:** Two ways to spread the cost of a standby generator: monthly with Affirm on equipment, or finance the installed project through a lender. What each covers.
**Overview:** UTS ElectricPros offers two financing routes. Equipment bought online can be paid monthly with Affirm or Klarna directly at checkout, in 3 to 36 month terms, on totals up to $30,000 including freight and sales tax; Affirm rates range from 10% to 36% APR subject to eligibility, and prequalification is a soft credit check. Online checkout covers equipment only, so a complete installed whole-house project of $13,500 to $17,000 is financed instead through a home improvement lender, home equity line, or a construction or renovation mortgage. The two routes do not combine on one project: if UTS ElectricPros performs the installation, the equipment and the work are a single contract at a single price, financed as a project rather than split between the cart and the crew. Affirm applies when you buy equipment only and arrange your own licensed installer.

# Financing your generator

There are two different purchases here and they finance differently. The equipment can be
paid monthly at checkout, today, with no phone call. The complete installed project is a
larger number and takes a different route. Both are below, along with where each one stops.

## Buying equipment: pay monthly with Affirm

Every generator, transfer switch and portable on this site can be paid monthly. Choose Affirm
at checkout the same way you would choose a card, and Affirm shows you the exact monthly
payment and the total cost before you agree to anything. Terms run 3 to 36 months depending
on the amount, and prequalification is a soft credit check that does not affect your score.

Affirm pays us in full upfront and collects from you over time. That matters for one reason
worth stating plainly: choosing it does not change your price . There is no
financing cost folded into the number, and no cash discount you are missing by using it.

Klarna is available at checkout as well, on its own terms. Affirm is the one that reaches the
longer terms this ticket size usually calls for, which is why it is the one described here.

Rates range from 10% to 36% APR, subject to eligibility, and some amounts and terms are
offered at 0% APR. Your terms are set by Affirm, not by us. See
 [Affirm's lending terms](https://affirm.com/disclosures).

The one limit worth knowing before you fill a cart. Affirm caps a single
transaction at $30,000, and the cap applies to the whole charge — equipment plus
freight plus sales tax, not the list price. Nearly the whole range fits underneath it. The
largest liquid-cooled and diesel sets do not, and those are quoted rather than sold from
the cart anyway. [Browse published prices](https://utselectricpros.com/generators).

## Financing the installed project

An online order covers equipment only. Installation, permits and the transfer switch are
quoted after a free site survey at your address, so they are never part of the online
transaction — which also means Affirm cannot fund them. A complete whole-house system in
DFW typically lands between $13,500 and $17,000 installed, and for that number the routes are
a home improvement loan, a home equity line, or rolling it into a construction or renovation
 mortgage.

We work with home-improvement lenders who specialize in this ticket size. You get a real rate
and a real monthly payment before committing, through a soft credit pull. Approval and
funding are handled directly between you and the lender — we never see your financial
details, and the financing decision has no effect on your installation price or your place in
 our schedule.

[The four routes compared, including the one to avoid](https://utselectricpros.com/guides/finance-generator-into-home-loan).

## Which route applies to you

The dividing line is who installs the generator, and it is worth knowing before you start,
because it decides how the whole purchase is written up.

You arrange your own licensed installer. You are buying equipment, so you buy
it here and Affirm is available at checkout like any other payment method. Delivery and sales
tax are part of that transaction.

We install it. Then the generator and the work are a single contract at a
single price, not a cart purchase followed by a separate bill. That is how a permanent
improvement to your property is properly contracted in Texas, and it is why the installed
project is financed as a project — a home improvement loan, a home equity line, or a
renovation mortgage — rather than split between Affirm and a second payment. You get one
number after the survey and finance that number.

## What to watch for

Deferred-interest and zero-percent promotional offers are common in home improvement, and
they are not free. The lender charges the contractor a substantial fee to fund them, and that
fee has to come from somewhere — usually the project price. A straightforward fixed-rate
loan is frequently the cheaper outcome for the customer even though the advertised rate looks
 worse.

We will tell you which structure is genuinely better for your situation, including when the answer is not to finance at all.

## Paying outright

If you are paying cash, the equipment price is the published price and the installation price
is whatever the written quote says. There is no cash discount to negotiate, because there is
no financing cost baked in to remove.

## Questions

### Can I pay monthly for a generator?

Yes. Equipment bought on this site can be paid monthly with Affirm, chosen at checkout like any other payment method. Terms run 3 to 36 months depending on the amount. Affirm pays us in full upfront, so choosing it does not change your price or your place in the schedule.

### Will checking my rate hurt my credit?

No. Affirm's prequalification is a soft check that does not affect your score. The same is true of the home improvement lenders we refer for installed projects — a hard inquiry only happens if you accept an offer and proceed.

### What does Affirm cost?

It depends on the amount and the term you pick. Affirm publishes rates ranging from 10% to 36% APR, subject to eligibility, and shorter terms on some amounts are offered at 0% APR. Affirm shows you the exact monthly payment and total before you commit. See [Affirm's lending terms](https://affirm.com/disclosures) for the details.

### Is there a limit on what Affirm will cover?

Affirm caps a single transaction at $30,000, and that ceiling applies to the whole charge — equipment plus freight plus sales tax, not the list price alone. Most of our range sits comfortably underneath it. The largest liquid-cooled and diesel sets do not, and those are quoted and invoiced rather than bought from the cart anyway.

### Can I finance the installation too?

Not through checkout. Online orders cover equipment only — installation, permits and the transfer switch are quoted after a free site survey, so they are not part of the online transaction. For the complete installed project the routes are a home improvement loan, a home equity line, or rolling it into a construction or renovation mortgage. [Each one is compared here](https://utselectricpros.com/guides/finance-generator-into-home-loan).

### Can I finance just the installation and pay cash for the equipment?

You can pay however you like — cash for part of it, financing for the rest, or financing for all of it. What does not change is the paperwork: when we install the generator, the equipment and the work are one contract at one price, because that is how a permanent improvement to your property is contracted in Texas. So the number you finance is a share of one project price rather than a separate equipment invoice and a separate labor invoice. Most home improvement lenders fund the whole project anyway.

### Are there rebates or tax credits for a standby generator?

Generally no. Standby generators do not qualify for federal residential clean energy credits, which apply to solar, storage and certain efficiency upgrades. Be skeptical of anyone advertising a generator tax credit — if your situation is unusual, ask your tax advisor rather than your contractor.

Equipment pricing is published on every model. The installation number takes about 45 minutes at your address, and it costs nothing.
