Shipping and returns

What delivery costs, what to check before you sign for a crate, and what happens if a machine arrives damaged or develops a fault. Written out fully, because a generator is not a purchase anyone should have to guess about.

Delivery

What delivery costs depends on what the machine is, not on what it weighs.

  • Air-cooled home standby generators — free. No delivery charge at any size.
  • Automatic transfer switches — free. No delivery charge.
  • Portable generators — free. These ship as parcels, direct to your door.
  • Liquid-cooled generators, including the enclosed diesel range — $250 flat. These are delivered from stock held in Dallas or another distribution center. One rate, whatever the unit weighs.
  • RV generators — $150 flat. One rate, charged at checkout like the rest.

We deliver within Texas. Published prices cover the equipment only. Installation, permits, the transfer switch and the gas connection are quoted separately after a free site survey, and none of them are charged at checkout.

Inspect the delivery before you sign

This is the most important two minutes of the whole purchase, so we will be blunt about it. Anything heavier than a portable arrives by freight truck, and somebody needs to be there to receive it. Before you sign the driver’s paperwork:

  • Walk around the crate and look at it.
  • If anything is damaged, crushed or missing, write it on the delivery receipt before signing.
  • Photograph the damage and the paperwork.
  • Tell us within 14 days of delivery.

Signing a clean receipt for a damaged crate is the one mistake that can defeat a freight claim outright, and it cannot be undone later.

If a machine arrives damaged

We make it right. A unit damaged in transit to you goes back and is repaired or replaced, and you do not pay the freight to return it. Call us as soon as you have the photographs and the annotated delivery receipt, and we will start the claim and arrange collection.

If a machine develops a fault

Faults are repaired under the Cummins factory warranty, at no cost to you. Cummins warrants air-cooled home standby generators for five years and liquid-cooled and diesel units for two years. You keep the machine and we put it right; call us and we will handle the claim. Our warranty page sets out what is covered.

Returns

Complete machines are not returnable. Generators and transfer switches are allocated and delivered to you specifically, and once a machine has been delivered we cannot take it back for a change of mind. The two situations above — damage in transit, and a fault under warranty — are how a delivered machine is put right, and they cover the things that actually go wrong.

This is why we would always rather talk to you before you order. If you are not certain which size fits your home, call us and we will work it out together. Sizing advice is free, there is no obligation, and it is the step that makes sure the machine that arrives is the one you wanted. Our sizing calculator is a good starting point.

Exchanges

We do not offer exchanges, for the same reason. Sizing is settled before the order, not after the delivery.

Deposits

A reservation deposit is a different thing entirely and is fully refundable at any time before installation begins, with no conditions. If you want to hold a unit and a price while you think, that is what the deposit is for. See our deposit and refund policy.

Common questions

Can I return a generator if I change my mind?

No. Generators and transfer switches are complete machines, allocated and delivered to you specifically, and they are not returnable once delivered. That is why we size the unit with you before you order — the sizing conversation is free, there is no obligation, and it is the step that makes sure you buy the right machine the first time.

What if my generator arrives damaged?

Then it goes back and we make it right. Note the damage on the delivery paperwork before you sign it, photograph it, and tell us within 14 days of delivery. Signing a clean receipt for a damaged crate is the one thing that can defeat a freight claim, and it cannot be undone afterwards, so please take the two minutes at the tailgate.

What if the unit is faulty?

It gets repaired under the Cummins factory warranty at no cost to you — five years on air-cooled home standby models, two years on liquid-cooled and diesel. A fault is a warranty matter rather than a return: you keep the machine and we put it right.
