Cummins C70D2RE — 70kW Mobile Diesel Generator

70kW standby, 63kW prime. Rental fleets and commercial users: construction sites, temporary power during electrical cutovers, events and small commercial buildings.

Cummins C70D2RE 70kW liquid-cooled Diesel mobile generator on a trailer
70 kW standby EPA Tier 4 Final 131 gal tank ~27 hr runtime 67 dB(A) at 7 m (23 ft), full load

The C70D2RE arrives as a complete, self-contained power plant: engine, alternator, controls, fuel and distribution panel in a sound-attenuated, lockable enclosure on its own trailer. Park it, connect the load and start it. There is no pad to pour and no gas line to run.

It runs a Cummins QSB5-G11, 4.5 L in-line 4-cylinder, turbocharged and aftercooled certified to EPA Tier 4 Final. Emissions are met without a diesel particulate filter, so there is no DPF to regenerate or replace, but the engine does use diesel exhaust fluid from a 10 gallon onboard tank. The onboard 131 gallon tank gives about 27 hours at 75% of prime load.

Cummins builds it to the voltage you choose: 120/240 1Ph, 120/208 3Ph, 139/240 3Ph, 277/480 3Ph, 347/600 3Ph. Pick the one that matches what you are powering. The unit is configured before it leaves the factory, which is why the choice is made at the order rather than on site.

Configure the trailer

Cummins builds the trailer to these choices along with the voltage. Match them to the tow vehicles that will move it.

Connecting it to a building?

A trailer generator feeds a building through a transfer switch or a generator docking station, installed by a licensed electrician. That is not part of the equipment sale. In Dallas-Fort Worth we quote it in writing after a free site survey.

Questions about the C70D2RE

How much is the Cummins C70D2RE?

The C70D2RE is $117,888.00 for the equipment, the same at every voltage it is offered in. Freight is not charged at checkout: it is quoted per shipment, and we confirm it with you by phone before anything is booked. Sales tax is calculated at checkout from the delivery address. No installation is included or required to run it as a stand-alone generator.

Can we buy the C70D2RE for a rental fleet?

Yes. This is a Cummins rental package, built for fleet use: a lockable enclosure, onboard fluid containment and controls designed for rental operators. Rental companies and commercial buyers can order online or by phone. Tax-exempt purchases require a valid Texas resale or exemption certificate. Without one on file, sales tax is charged at checkout. To buy tax-exempt, provide your certificate before ordering by calling (214) 957-4307; online checkout cannot accept a certificate. Orders for several units are also easier to arrange by phone.

Which voltage should I choose?

Choose the voltage of the equipment or building you will power. The C70D2RE is offered in 120/240 1Ph, 120/208 3Ph, 139/240 3Ph, 277/480 3Ph, 347/600 3Ph. Cummins sets the unit up for your selection before it ships, so the choice has to be right at the order. If you are not sure, have your electrician confirm it, or call us before you buy and we will work through it with you.

How long will the C70D2RE run on a tank?

The onboard tank holds 131 gallons, which Cummins rates at about 27 hours at 75% of prime load. At full standby load it burns 8 gallons an hour. It also carries 10 gallons of diesel exhaust fluid, sized for 24 hours of operation, and uses DEF at less than 4% of fuel consumption.

What do I need to tow the C70D2RE?

It weighs 7,100 lb dry and 8,100 lb with a full tank, about 4.1 tons, on a tandem-axle trailer. Check your tow vehicle and hitch against the wet weight, not the dry weight. You choose electric or hydraulic brakes and a ball or pintle hitch when you order, and Cummins builds the trailer to match.

Can the C70D2RE power a building?

Yes, but not by plugging it in. Connecting a generator to a building's wiring needs a properly rated transfer switch or generator docking station installed by a licensed electrician, so the generator cannot back-feed the utility line. That work is not sold with the equipment. In Dallas-Fort Worth we quote it separately after a site survey.
